Acne Treatment with Chemical Peel
Chemical peels “peel” the top, superficial layers of the skin. Over a month or so, the upper skin layers regenerate producing a smoother, softer, and more youthful skin texture. Chemical peels are useful for acne and acne scarring, but they can also be used for other skin conditions including brown spots, melasma, keratosis, and to decrease the signs of aging such as fine lines. Superficial chemical peels are safe in all types of skin, including individuals with darker skin. The downtime is usually minimal after a superficial chemical peel. Two chemical peel methods are often used for acne scarring: Jessners Solution or Salicylic Acid applied over the entire face. This technique is particularly useful in jump-starting other acne treatments. Acne peels can be done every month.
