What is Microneedling?
Norris Dermatology & Laser Portland offers skin microneedling technologies that rejuvenate skin by reducing wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and cellulite. The Dermapen 3MD™ gently glides over the skin creating millions of fine channels. These channels help in trans-dermal delivery of topically applied formulations. The body naturally responds to microneedling by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of normal woven-collagen, similar to fractional laser treatments, but without the side effects and downtime.
Erase Your Skin’s Past
When compared to traditional dermal rollers, the Dermapen 3MD™ causes less epidermal (skin) damage, reducing levels of pain and discomfort. As a result, this device is a safer, more comfortable, and more effective micro needling treatment. Sterile single-use cartridges eliminate risk of cross-contamination, whilst the adjustable settings allow for a treatment that is fully tailored to your individual needs. The design of the device also allows for it to be used in hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, eyelids, earlobes, neck, lips, and on the nose.
Helen Carey, C.A.E., RMA is a certified Dermapen 3MD™ technician in Portland is best suited to assess your skin and treatment area, as well as recommend a treatment plan that will be most beneficial for you.

How Should I Prepare for Microneedling?
For optimal results, an appropriate skin care regime should be determined by Helen Carey, C.A.E., RMA to encourage the skin to strengthen (especially for thin or delicate skin areas).
How Long Should it Take Before I See Results?
Typically, you will see cumulative results from microneedling. Longer-lasting and more significant results will become visible after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months, especially when combined with the recommended post-treatment care.
The microneedling treatments are relatively painless. Deeper treatments may require a topical anesthetic cream to be applied 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain-free.
Is There Any Downtime After Treatments?
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12 to 48 hours after the treatment. Most people visiting Norris Dermatology & Laser Northwest Portland are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable camouflage will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
How to Care for Your Skin Between Microneedling Treatments
Step 1 : Advanced Resurfacing
Your clinician will apply a suitable topical agent to compliment your microneedling treatment. Between treatments, continue using recommended products as directed to maintain results.
Step 2 : Hydrate and Strengthen
For best results, it is important to keep your skin hydrated and protected from the harsh environment to make it healthy and strong. DP Dermaceuticals Vitamin Rich Repair™ Cream* was specially created to enhance the results of your treatment by promoting intensive rebuilding and repair of the skin both before and after treatments. If you will be exposed to the sun, always wear appropriate sun protection.
Step 3: Cover, Recover and Protect for Beautiful Skin
It is unlikely that you will experience any side effects after your treatment. However, if you do experience redness or sensitive skin, you may use a breathable post-procedure camouflage makeup. This will allow you to get back to your everyday activities with no one suspecting that you even had a treatment. In addition, camouflage makeup coverage can also work as sun protection for the skin.
