Portland Laser Hair Removal
Norris Dermatology and Laser Northwest in Portland, Oregon uses certified laser technicians and estheticians for our laser hair removal services. The clinic offers safe laser hair removal by using one of the most powerful, but gentle lasers to remove hair. The GentleMax® laser by Candela is a hair removal device that will leave your skin smooth, while eliminating the need to tweeze or shave. The Gentle Max Laser is the Gold Standard of Hair Removal Lasers used for all skin types and genders.
The GentleMax® laser emits a gentle beam of energy that passes through the upper layer of the skin into the hair follicle, where it is absorbed and then once it is absorbed, the laser energy is turned into heat, which disables the hair follicle. The GentleMax® laser is different from other lasers used for hair removal in Portland. It contains two wavelengths: the Alexandrite for lighter skin and the ND-Yag for darker skin. Unlike other laser devices, the GentleMax® laser is designed to work on any skin type with minimal risk. Darker skin tones can safely be treated.
The GentleMax® laser used at Norris Dermatology and Laser Northwest Portland is a safe method for hair removal of unwanted hair. The results from the GentleMax laser gives patients a long-term reduction to the overall density. The treatments can take anywhere from several minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. The laser may be used to remove unwanted hair from most areas of the body, including the face, underarms, legs, arms, bikini, and back. Candela uses a patented dynamic-cooling device (DCD). Some patients experience mild discomfort during the treatment.
The GentleMax® laser treatment in our Portland office is FDA approved. Most patients need 4-6 treatments, five to six weeks apart with occasional maintenance treatments for permanent hair reduction. The treatment varies from patient to patient depending on the patients skin type, hair color, and density.
After your GentleMax® laser hair removal treatment, you may resume your normal activities, avoiding sunlight exposure to the laser treated area up to four weeks after the procedure. You also may experience some redness. Swelling around the hair follicle lasts a few hours and is an indication that the treatment was successful.
