Laser Hair Removal
Norris Dermatology & Lasers NW offers safe hair removal in Portland by using one of the most powerful but gentle ways to remove hair. The GentleMax® laser by Candela is a hair removal device that will leave your skin smooth, while eliminating the need to tweeze or shave. The Gentle Max Laser is the Gold Standard of Hair Removal Lasers used for all skin types and genders.
The GentleMax® laser emits a gentle beam of energy that passes through the upper layer of the skin into the hair follicle, where it is absorbed and then once it is absorbed, the laser energy is turned into heat, which disables the hair follicle. The GentleMax® laser is different from other lasers used for hair removal in Portland. It contains two lasers: the Alexandrite for lighter skin color and the Yag for darker skin. Unlike other laser devices, the GentleMax® laser is designed to work on any skin type with minimal risk. Darker skin tones can safely be treated.
The GentleMax® laser used at Norris Dermatology & Lasers NW is a safe method for hair removal of unwanted hair. The results from the GentleMax laser gives patients a long-term reduction to the overall density. The treatments can take anywhere from several minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. The treatment may be used to remove unwanted hair from most areas of the body, including the face, underarms, legs, arms, bikini, and back. Candela uses a patented dynamic-cooling device (DCD). Some patients experience mild discomfort during the treatment.
The GentleMax® laser treatment in our Portland office is FDA approved. Most patients need 4-6 treatments, five to six weeks apart with touch ups required for permanent hair reduction. The treatment varies from patient to patient depending on the patients skin type and hair density.
After your GentleMax® laser hair removal treatment you may resume your normal activities directly after the procedure. You may experience some redness in the treated area. Swelling around the hair follicle lasts a few hours and is an indication that the treatment was successful.
